Celebrating 80 Years since the Dambusters raid.

On May 16-17 1943 Operation Chastise was carried out by Lincolnshire based  617 Squadron and the Lancaster Bomber. The success of the raid on the 3 dams in the Ruhr Valley was largely down to the secret weapon of the crew, now known as the Bouncing Bomb. The raid caused significant disruption to German infrastructure causing huge disruption to their production efforts.

Of the 133 crew, 53 men died, 3 were captured and 8 aircraft were destroyed.
